EPIKURE™ Curing Agent 3502

 

 

Product Description

EPIKURE™ Curing Agent 3502 is a reaction product of ethylenediamine and methyl isobutyl ketone. This low viscosity ketimine curing agent is recommended for specialized marine, maintenance, automotive, flooring and adhesive formulations.

 

Application Areas/Suggested Uses

  • This curing agent is recommended for use in combination with other amine curing agents in high solids maintenance and marine coatings that can be applied with conventional application equipment. Dry film build of 8-10 mils can be achieved in a one coat application.
  • This curing agent can be used in adhesives and industrial flooring applications up to 8-10 mils in dry film thickness.
  • EPIKURE Curing Agent 3502 can be combined with other curing agents to lower viscosity and extend the pot life of certain formulations.

Recommended Proportions

As with many other curing agents, the optimum quantity of curing agent with a certain epoxy resin may vary somewhat from the stoichiometric concentration. Therefore, it is recommended that EPIKURE Curing Agent 3502 be examined at levels varying from about 25% below the stoichiometric concentration to about 25% above. For your convenience, stoichiometric values of EPIKURE Curing Agent 3502 with a number of EPON™ Resins are tabulated below:

EPKURE Curing Agent 3502 is a very low viscosity ketimine curing agent. This particular ketimine may absorb moisture and carbon dioxide if left in open containers. This may result in some haziness to the product. Therefore, EPIKURE Curing Agent 3502 should be kept in tightly closed containers when not in use and stored in a cool dry place. EPIKURE Curing Agent 3502 is classified as a corrosive and flammable liquid.

 

Exposure to these materials should be minimized and avoided, if feasible, through the observance of proper precautions, use of appropriate engineering controls and proper personal protective clothing and equipment, and adherence to proper handling procedures. None of these materials should be used, stored, or transported until the handling precautions and recommendations as stated in the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for these and all other products being used are understood by all persons who will work with them.
