EPIKURE™ Curing Agent 8290-Y-60



Product Description

EPIKURE 8290-Y-60 Curing Agent is a water-reducible amine adduct supplied at 60 percent

nonvolatiles in 2-propoxyethanol. This curing agent was designed specifically for conversion

of EPI-REZ™ 5522-WY-60 Resin in formulation of two-component, chemically resistant water

reducible epoxy coatings. Coatings based on this resin system exhibit excellent chemical

and corrosion resistance, as well as long-term water and humidity resistance over a variety

of substrates. For optimum performance, it is suggested that combining ratios other than

stoichiometric be investigated. Consult the EPI-REZ 5522-WY-60 product bulletin for specific

performance trends.

General Information

The pot life of most coatings using EPI-REZ 5522-WY-60 cured with EPIKURE 8290-Y-60 Curing Agent ranges from 2 to 6 hours, depending on the system stoichiometry. This time can be extended through the incorporation of glacial acetic acid, at the sacrifice of some performance. These additions will result in slower room temperature cure response and some decrease in chemical resistance. The degree of decrease will be relative to the amount added, thus care is advised.
