EPI-REZ™ Resin 6520-WH-53

Product Description

EPI-REZ™ Resin 6520-WH-53 is a 53% solids, non-ionic aqueous dispersion of a modified EPON™ Resin 1001 type solid Bis A epoxy. This resin contains a low level of solvent (acetone and propylene glycol monomethyl ether) and is designed to provide the high performance of traditional epoxy coatings in low VOC, non-HAP waterborne coatings. Although EPI-REZ Resin 6520-WH-53 exhibits good compatibility with many water-reducible amine curing agents, it is designed for use with EPIKURE™ Curing Agent 6870-W-53.

Benefits

EPI-REZ Resin 6520-WH-53 offers:

  • Very low odor

  • Ultra low VOC
  • Mechanical stability – pigmented with high speed dispersers
  • Non-flammable/non-combustible (flash point > 200 °F)

In combination with EPIKURE Curing Agent 6870-W-53 over a typical range of stoichiometry levels, this epoxy resin dispersion system delivers:

  • Very fast dry and recoat times
  • No induction time
  • Visible end of pot life
  • Very good gloss and aesthetics
  • Very good corrosion and water resistance
  • Balanced overall performance properties

General Information

The preferred choice of curing agent for optimum performance over a wide range of stoich-iometries is EPIKURE Curing Agent 6870-W-53. This versatile binder system — EPI-REZ Resin 6520-WH-53 with EPIKURE Curing Agent 6870-W-53 — allows clear coats, enamels and primers to be formulated with volumetric mix ratios from 4:1 to 1:1. In addition, EPI-REZ Resin 6520-WH-53 is compatible with many other waterborne epoxy curatives and additives.

Safety, Storage & Handling

Please refer to the MSDS for the most current Safety and Handling information.

Please refer to the Hexion web site for Shelf Life and recommended Storage information.

For ease of handling and optimum shelf life, epoxy dispersions should be stored in tightly sealed containers at temperatures between 50 °F (10 °C) and 100 °F (37.8 °C). Do not allow the product to freeze. To prevent skinning or surface drying, do not leave the product uncovered for extended periods of time. If the need arises to store partially filled drums, replace the plastic top-sheet onto the surface of the liquid product.

Exposure to these materials should be minimized and avoided, if feasible, through the observance of proper precautions, use of appropriate engineering controls and proper personal protective clothing and equipment, and adherence to proper handling procedures. None of these materials should be used, stored, or transported until the handling precautions and recommendations as stated in the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for these and all other products being used are understood by all persons who will work with them. Questions and requests for information on Hexion Inc. ("Hexion") products should be directed to your Hexion sales representative, or the nearest Hexion sales office. Information and MSDSs on non-Hexion products should be obtained from the respective manufacturer.
