Astro Mel™ 601

Description

Astro Mel 601 is a liquid, hexamethoxymethyl-type melamine resin.

Application

Astro Mel 601 can be used to crosslink a variety of solvent-based and waterborne polymers that contain hydroxyl, amino, amido, and carboxyl functional groups. Acid catalysts, such as toluenesulfonic acid, are recommended to promote cure at lower bake temperatures. Astro Mel 601 is not water-soluble, but can be dissolved with the aid of alcohol or other cosolvents. In many cases, the surfactant vehicle of latex systems is adequate to promote solubility.
