EPIKOTE™ Resin 256 

 

 

 

 

Product Description 

EPIKOTE Resin 256 is a liquid epoxy resin based on a bisphenol A resin (produced from bisphenol A and epichlorohydrin), a bisphenol F resin (produced from bisphenol F and epichlorohydrin) and an added proportion of a mono-epoxidised alcohol as reactive diluent, which has been modified to make it readily dispersible in water. As judged by laboratory tests, EPIKOTE 256 is considered to have excellent resistance to crystallization on storage.

  

Application Areas/Suggested Uses 

  

EPIKOTE 256 is intended to be used, with appropriate water-dispersible curing agents, in the formulation of water reducible 2-pack coatings. These coatings are an alternative to solvent-borne polyamide-cured coatings in instances when solvents are undesirable. Potential uses include coatings for concrete, painting of steel in confined spaces e.g. ballast tanks, double bottoms and dry cargo spaces on ships, etc.

EPIKOTE 256 should be stored at room temperature in conditions such that moisture is excluded, in the original containers kept tightly closed. Under these conditions the shelf life should be a minimum of three years from date of certification.
