Increasing the functionality in epoxy resins allows formulators to achieve higher crosslinking densities and significant performance enhancements. A variety of backbones are available with functionalities between 2.5 and 8. Epoxy novolac resins are broadly utilized as primary epoxy resins or as modifiers in multi-resin systems. High functional epoxy resins are preferred in high performance:
